The Koran, the main source of the Islamic faith, is a book believed by Muslims, to be of completely Divine origin, without any shred of evidence other than the say so of mullahs who make money from this occupation. Muslims also believe that it contains guidance for all mankind. Since the message of the Koran is believed to be for all times, it should be relevant to every age. Does the Koran pass this test? Not a chance!

Here, I (Abdul Hussain) intend to give an objective analysis of the Muslim belief regarding the Divine origin of the Koran, in the light of established scientific discoveries (objective? Nope -- shamefully prattling based on nearly total ignorance and lack of any education.

Feeble Islamic apologetic attempts to make this passage fit the Big Bang fails miserably. The "unbelievers" are the Christians and the Jews and this passage refers to the creation story in Genesis 1, not the big bang. 14 billion years ago there was no EARTH, there was only a hot plasma of hydrogen and helium filling space. Another case of misapplied correspondence.

Expanding Universe

In 1925, Edwin Hubble (after whom the Hubble Space telescope is named) provided the observational evidence for the expansion of the universe. Stephen Hawking (author of 'A Brief History of Time') states: "The universe is not static, as had previously been thought, it is expanding". So what did God reveal in the Koran, 1400 years ago?

"And the firmament, We constructed with power and skill and verily We are expanding it" (Koran51:47)

Another case of bad grammar and attributions. Another reference to Genesis 1. The "Rakia" is the firmament from the Hebrew root Raka "to hammer" as something that is hammered out. that Firmament was a dome over the earth under which there was the sun moon, planets stars and clouds.

The Existence of Sun's Orbit

Ancient people use to believe that the Sun revolved around the earth. (so does the Koran) Later, Nicholas Copernicus in 1512, laid his Heliocentric Theory of Planetary motion, which placed the sun motionless in the center of the solar system with all the planets revolving around it. Modern science tells us now that the sun too is not still, but is in motion.

The sun traveling at roughly 150 miles per second takes about 200 million years to complete one revolution around the center of our Milky Way Galaxy and 25 days to make one complete rotation around its own axis. See how beautifully and accurately God revealed this phenomenon in the Koran

"It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its orbit with its own motion." (Koran 21:33)

This passage refers to the Geocentric model, not the Sun's orbit in the Galaxy. The writers in 650AD did not know there was a Galaxy, but they had heard of the Geocentric model promoted by Greeks since Aristotle 1000 years previous. Muslim apologists are creative but stupid.

Embryology

The Dutch naturalist Anthony van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) produced lenses powerful enough to prove that many tiny creatures are not spontaneously generated but are produced from eggs.

This last statement is a bald faced lie. Either the author is an ignoramus, or he is just repeating what some other fully ignorant mullah told him. Leeuwenhoek (1670 - was one of the first men to see microscopic creatures, Compound microscopes (that is, microscopes using more than one lens) had been invented around 1595, nearly forty years before Leeuwenhoek was born. Several of Leeuwenhoek's predecessors and contemporaries, notably Robert Hooke in England and Jan Swammerdam in the Netherlands, had built compound microscopes and were making important discoveries with them. What further distinguished him was his curiosity to observe almost anything that could be placed under his lenses, and his care in describing what he saw. Although he himself could not draw well, he hired an illustrator to prepare drawings of the things he saw, to accompany his written descriptions. His knowledge never extended to studying life histories of theses creature. He, like many people following him, thought that microscopic living things were "Spontaneously generated" from nonliving matter, This was not disproved until a series of masterful experiments by Koch and Pasteur and the GERM theory(1860)

The science of Embryology as we know it today did not discover many of the detailed aspects of human embryonic development until the 1970s, using powerful microscopes, ultra sound and fiber optics technology. See how the Koran described the stages of embryonic development.

"God fashioned man from a small quantity (of sperm)" (16:4) Fertilization takes place with only one sperm among several tens of million produced by man.

Wrong again. the Koranic passage shows that it merely repeating what is obvious and still wrong. IT is obvious that there are no babies made without semen, but what is not obvious is that semen contains microscopic swimming spermatozoa and what was certainly not known in 650Ad was that the woman had eggs. Thus the Koran pointedly does not mention the human egg.

"Then We placed him as a drop in a place of rest" Koran(23:13)
Implantation of the blastocyst in the uterus.

Wrong, the semen is placed in the vagina - a place of rest. There was no knowledge of blastocysts in 650AD.

"Then We made the drop into a leech like structure..." Koran(23:14)
This resemblance of the human embryo to a leech is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24, when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus.

The Embryo is then a spherical mass of cells, and does not resemble a leach at all.

"And He (God) gave you hearing and sight and feeling and understanding." (Koranr32:9)

What is the matter with you, that you are not conscious of Allah's Majesty. Seeing that it is He who has created you in diverse stages? (Qur'aan 71:13-14). a meaningless statement and again copying the already existent knowledge of 650AD not modern Embryology.
